It is with some sadness but with great hope that Iona College announces it will be leaving its home of over 50 years at 208 Sunset Avenue, Windsor.

Over the years with changing times and changing funding Iona has gone into debt, like many other churches, congregations, and faith communities. The debts must be paid and thus the property must be sold. Fortunately the University of Windsor has agreed to buy the property and has plans for it. Therefore Iona will be moving by no later than October 30, 2016. However, Iona anticipates that the sale of the Sunset property will leave us debt free, and thus enable us to move forward with our mission.

Iona is not only moving physically, but, while honouring our United Church roots, has chosen to become an ecumenical and inter-faith college. With support from representatives from a half-dozen faith communities and traditions, and in co-operation with our partners in the Chaplaincy Network and the University, Iona intends to continue serving the students, faculty, and staff of the University, as well as the surrounding community.

Our programs of student dinners, the North Campus food bank, our bursaries, and our courses will be reorganized, but in one form or another, will continue. Over the coming years we hope to broaden our course offerings and improve the food bank and other programs. One of the reasons for becoming an ecumenical and interfaith college is so that we can relaunch our chaplaincy work to embrace all faith groups.

Iona particularly thanks the Student Law Association at the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law for their ongoing support via their hosting of the Amicus Curiae Café. The generous patronage of the students, faculty, and staff of the Law Faculty has kept the food bank operating. We look forward to continuing this partnership and building on it, regardless of where our new home is.

Iona also thanks our friends and partners in the Chaplaincy Network, Assumption College, Canterbury College, and the University of Windsor, as we enter an exciting new era of co-operation and service to our community.

At this time Iona does not have finalized arrangements for its new home, but we have faith that our new home will be just as welcoming as our old one, and will be just as open to new friends, as it will remain to our old friends. We will announce the location of our new home as soon as we can.

In faith, and with thanks, the Board of Directors, Iona College
